We are extremely proud of all our students at Oaks, there is a great diversity of personalities with a single focus on creating a brighter future. Included below is a handful of students currently studying with us.
Class 6 Bios
Angela Kamara
Aged 11 years
Angela lives in Lewabu, the neighbouring district to OAKS. She has one younger sister.
Angela started at OAKS in Class 1. Her favourite subject is Maths Quantative and her least favourite is English Verbal.
If she passes her exam, the NPSE, which takes place on the first Saturday in May with the results posted in August, Angela would like to do her three years in Junior Secondary at QRS, the Catholic girls school in Bo.
Francis Mansaray
10 years old
Francis lives in Lewabu, the neighbouring district to OAKS. He has one brother and one sister.
Francis joined OAKS in Class 2 when his parents moved area within Bo. His Class 1 was spent at The Methodist Primary in Bo Town.
Francis’ favourite subject is English and he is not very keen on Maths as it is rather too hard at times.
If he passes his exam, the NPSE, which takes place on the first Saturday in May with the results posted in August, Francis would like to do his three years in Junior Secondary at the Bo School for boys.
Mohammed Sesay
11 years old
Mohamed lives in Lewabu, the neighbouring district to OAKS. He has one older brother.
He joined OAKS in Class 2 from another local primary school in Musa Steet, the other side of the main road through Bo, the Bo/Kenema Highway.
Mohamed’s favourite subject is Physical Health Education and his least favourite is Maths.
If he passes his exam, the NPSE, which takes place on the first Saturday in May with the results posted in August, Mohamed would like to do his three years in Junior Secondary at CKC, the Catholic boys school in Bo.
Nat Corman
14 years old
Nat lives with his grandfather in Lewabu, the neighbouring district to OAKS. He has five brothers and two sisters all younger than himself and back in his village.
Nat joined OAKS in Class 6. He is staying with his grandfather to have the opportunity to take the NPSE and gain a better education.
Nat’s favourite subject is English and his least favourite is Social Studies.
If he passes his exam, the NPSE, which takes place on the first Saturday in May with the results posted in August, Nat would like to do his three years in Junior Secondary at OAKS.
Umu Combay
12 years old
Umu lives in Mendewa with her two younger brothers.
She started OAKS in Class 1. Her favourite subject is English and her least favourite is Maths, which she finds rather difficult.
If she passes her exam, the NPSE, which takes place on the first Saturday in May with the results posted in August, Umu would like to do her three years in Junior Secondary at OAKS.
Rita Humper
12 years old
Rita lives in a neighbouring area to OAKS called Johnny Layout. She has one older brother.
Rita has been at OAKS since Class 1. Her favourite lesson is Social Studies and her least favourite is maths, which she finds rather difficult.
If she passes her exam, the NPSE, which takes place on the first Saturday in May with the results posted in August, Rita would like to do her three years of Junior Secondary at OAKS.
JSS 2 and 3 Bios
Abdulai Bassoum
13 years old. Junior Secondary 2 (Year 8)
Abdulai lives in Lewabu, the neighbouring district to Mendewa. He has an older brother and two younger sisters.
Abdulai started at OAKS in Class 1. He scored 302 in his NPSE Primary exam, pass mark 230. He had wanted to go to Junior Secondary at CKC but missed the interview date. However, he is extemely happy at OAKS.
His favourite subject is English Language but he is not very keen on Social Studies.
When he takes his BECE exam in 2017 he would like to go to CKC for his four year Senior Secondary course. His dream is to become a Doctor.
Alusine Gbla
16 years old. Junior Secondary School 3 (Year 9)
Alusine lives in Mendewa, at OAKS House. Alusine is one of Margaret’s ‘bush children’, brought to Bo from Gendema, an isolated and backward village, for a quality education. At home in Gendema he has 1 brother and 3 sisters, all bar one, younger than him.
Alusine stated at OAKS in Class 4. He scored 307 in his NPSE (Primary exam) the pass mark 230. OAKS was obviously his first choice for Junior Secondary School as he has a sponsored place.
Alusine is very happy at OAKS, he has some very good friends. He has joined Scouts and loves it. His favourite subject is Maths. The BECE exam is taken in June 2016 for the 30 pupils in Junior Secondary 3. His compulsory subjects are Maths, English, Integrated Science and Social Studies. His Option Choices are: Religious and Moral Education, Agriculture, Home Economics and Business Studies.
If he is successful he would like to attend Bo School for his four Senior Secondary School years. He would like to become a Doctor.
Bintu Sheriff
14 years old. Junior Secondary 2 (Year 8)
Bintu lives in the neighbouring area of Lewabu. She is number three in a large family with three sisters and four brothers.
Bintu started at OAKS in Class 1 Primary. She scored 290 in her NPSE Primary exam, pass mark 230.
Her favourite subject is Science but she is not too keen on Maths.
When she takes her BECE exam in June 2017 she would like to go to QRS for her four year Senior Secondary course. Her ambition is to train to become a Nurse.
David Moses
15 years old. Junior Secondary 2 (Year 8)
David lives in Mendewa. He has two sisters, one older and one younger.
David joined OAKS in Junior Secondary 1, from his Primary school of Aladura. He scored 273 in his NPSE Primary exam, pass mark 230.
His favourite subject is Social Studies and his least favourite is Physical Health Education.
When he takes his BECE exam in 2017 he would like to go to CKC for his four year Senior Secondary course. His dream is to become a Lawyer.
Elizabeth Fullay
14 years old. Junior Secondary 2 (Year 8)
Elizabeth lives in Mendewa, she is one of three girls, with one older and one younger sister.
Elizabeth joined OAKS in Class 5 when her family moved house within the Bo area. She scored 303 in her NPSE Primary exam, pass mark 230.
Her favourite subjects are Maths and English. She is not too keen on PHE, Physical Health Education.
When she takes her BECE exam in June 2017 she would like to go to QRS for her four year Senior Secondary course. Her ambition is to train to become a Lawyer.
Hawa Sidibay
15 years old. Junior Secondary 3 (Year 9).
Hawa lives in Shemingo. She has three brothers, two older and one younger.
Hawa joined OAKS for Junior Secondary School. She scored 295 in her NPSE Primary exam, the pass mark 230. She chose OAKS rather than staying on at her Primary’s JSS facility because she thought OAKS had a good standard of teaching. She knew about OAKS because she had played in some sport matches at the school.
Hawa really likes OAKS. Her favourite subject is Maths. The BECE exam is taken in June 2016 for the 30 pupils in Junior Secondary 3. Her compulsory subjects are Maths, English, Integrated Science and Social Studies. Her Option Choices are: Religious and Moral Education, Agriculture, Home Economics and Business Studies.
If she is successful she would like to continue at OAKS, but there is no Senior Secondary yet, so, she would apply to QRS, Bo for her four Senior Secondary School years. She would like a career in Science. She is not sure what these choices would be at university, perhaps a Doctor.
